PlayGround-LA Company in the News Mar-16

See what PlayGround-LA Writers are up to as we prepare for the March 14 round of Monday Night PlayGround.

Allie Costa will be performing a song from Alien vs. Musical at A Little New Music at Rockwell Table & Stage on Tuesday, March 8th. Allie's one-woman play She Was Never Lost about Alice Liddell, who inspired Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, is being presented at the 365 Women Festival March 3rd-March 6th at Monster Box Theatre in Michigan.  Allie's play Drop in the Ocean was selected for Bellarmine University International 10-Minute Play Festival, running March 16th through March 21st in Kentucky. Her comedy Breaking Cover hits the Urban Waves Open Hydrant Spring Short Play Festival March 18th through March 20th in New York.

Arthur Keng is performing in Tokyo Fish Story at TheatreWorks in Palo Alto and has an upcoming recurring role on Silicon Valley on HBO.

Jennie Webb’s full-length CRAZY BITCH was selected by EST/LA Artistic Directors to be presented on March 23 as part of Winterfest 2016, directed by Jenny O'Hara; casting will be announced soon for the Inkwell Theater's production of CURRENCY opening April 15 at VS Theatre, directed by Annie McVey.

Ron Burch's short film, MEETING MATT DAMON, based on his play and directed by Frieda de Lackner, will be in the "Short Sweet Film Festival" in Cleveland, OH, March 4-6, 2016.  His ten-minute comedy, ME AND MY SHADOW, will be in “The 20th Annual One Act Festival – The Originals,” The Fine Arts Association, Willoughby, OH, April 8-23, 2016 and part of the "2016 Ohlone College Playwrights Festival," Fremont, CA, May 5-6, 2016. His short comedy, OBJECTUM SEXUALITY, will be published in Smith & Kraus' THE BEST TEN-MINUTE PLAYS OF 2016. DINOTRUX, his tv show on Netflix, drops its second season on March 11th!

Ann-Giselle Spiegler's play Inter-View, written for PlayGround-LA, will be performed this summer in Los Angeles as part of the "Motel Plays", a site specific work, setting six short plays about love and loss in an actual motel. Audiences will pick a room and see what unfurls in it, then move on to the next room.

Vincent Terrell Durham will have 3 pieces featured in the theatrical production, "In Response". Towne Street Theatre presents a multimedia, multi-author "response" to the systematic racism throughout America, told from a historical perspective through poetry, short plays, video and song. The show will run Fridays through Sundays from April 8th - April 24th at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, CA. Baby Black Jesus, originally produced by PlayGround-LA, will be featured during Briefs: A Festival of Short LGBT Plays at the start of April in Saint Louis, MO.
